I love donuts! But I find that making yeasted donuts takes a tad bit longer than I would like. So this recipe was born. Plus, they are baked so technically they may be just a tad bit healthier.

The cool thing about these donuts is that you can glaze them, powder them with icing sugar, cover them in cinnamon sugar, or cover them in chocolate glaze.

minutesIngredients
- For the Donuts
1 large egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup vegetable oil
½ cup sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
⅛ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup sour cream
- For Glaze
* 4 tablespoons or ¼ cup milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
1¼ cups powdered sugar
- For Chocolate Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
* 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
* 1-2 teaspoons milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Make sure that all your ingredients are at room temperature. In a mixing bowl add; egg, sour cream, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar. Mix these ingredients on medium speed until they all combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients; all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt. Mix these ingredients lightly with a whisk to ensure they are well combined.
- Add dry ingredients into the bowl of wet ingredients, at this point we will also add in the vanilla. Mix on medium speed until all ingredients incorporate.
- Place your batter into a piping bag or sandwich bag to make it easier to place into the donut molds. Make sure to spray the molds with non-stick baking spray to prevent sticking.
- Bake donuts between 12-15 minutes or until golden brown, they should spring back when you touch them.
- Remove donuts from the oven and allow them to cool for 5-7 minutes in the mold. Remove them from the mold and allow them to cool on a baking rack for 10 minutes. When donuts are completely cooled, cover them in glaze. And enjoy!
- FOR THE GLAZE
- Add milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar into a bowl and mix with a whisk until all sugar is dissolved. You can cover your donuts with this glaze and be done or you can proceed to the chocolate glaze step if you would like.
- FOR CHOCOLATE GLAZE
- Add milk, vanilla, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder into a bowl and mix with a whisk until all ingredients dissolve. Dip your donuts halfway through and add sprinkles
