Chocolate Buttercream
Hi friends! So after posting my chocolate cake recipe, a few of you asked for the chocolate frosting recipe. And quite honestly I wanted to make sure I wrote it down to make sure I didn’t forget it, cause I forget everything….Anyway over the Thanksgiving break I made this cake for the family and they were obsessed so here’s the recipe for the frosting.
Chocolate Buttercream Recipe
1/2 C butter
1/2 C vegetable shortening
3-4 TBSP of heavy whipping cream
4 C confectioners sugar
pinch of salt
1/4 C Hershey’s Dark Cocoa Powder
1/4 C chocolate chips (melted)
-cream butter and shortening for approximately 5 minutes
-in a bowl whisk together powdered sugar, salt, and dark cocoa powder
-add in the dry ingredients to the butter shortening mixture.
-melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds. When the chocolate chips are melted add them into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients.
-add in the heavy whipping cream to the other ingredients and mix on medium speed for approximately 4-5 minutes.

Creamy and decadent chocolate frosting. I use this frosting for celebration cakes or also as a filling.
