Edible Cake Lace

Welcome back friends! I’m sorry I’ve been absent for a while, I’m back and today I want to share a cool tutorial with you. So lately clothing and textured cookies that look like their “real like” inspirations have been popping up on my feed. I think it’s mainly because I follow people like WeSugarArt and InspiredtoTaste. Anyway. Let’s get right into the edible lace tutorial.

  1. Dipping FlexFrostThere are a few different ways to dissolve this paper. My favorite and easiest way is to tear off small pieces of FlexFrost from it’s backing and simply dipping it into water. The water will help to turn the paper into a paste.

2. Dehydrating

Once your lace mat is neatly filled in with the paste that forms from the FlexFrost sheets we are going to dehydrate this mat to help our paste dry. I usually put my dehydrator at the lowest temperature that I am able to and this is 113 degrees Fahrenheit and leave it in there for 30 minutes. Now, if you do not have a dehydrator there is a few other things you can do: let you mat dry at room temperature (this may take between 40 minutes up to 6 hours to completely dry), leave your mat under a heat lamp (drying time usually varies between 30minutes up to 4 hours), or using a blowdryer for approximately 30 minutes.

3. Refill

Ok so now that we have dehydrated our lace and basically dried it. You’ll notice that it’s a bit sunken in or shrunken inside the lace mat. So to fix this I usually, at this point in the process, refill the lace mat with left over FlexFrost paste and repeat the dehydrating process again.

4. Dehydrate

And now we will repeat step number 2 again.

In summary, I really love this method of making lace because it doesn’t involve any mixing or measuring of ingredients. If you use too much water, you just dehydrate longer, if your paper isn’t dissolving, you add more water. So here is the link to my YouTube Channel so you can view this tutorial in video form.
