Marranitos
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups flour
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg + 1 tsp milk for egg wash
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Beat sugar, butter, eggs for 3 minutes
- Then add in molasses, eggs, milk, and vanilla, mix for another 3 minutes on medium speed.
- Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl to ensure they are well distributed.
- Add in dry ingredients slowly, 1 cup at a time, and continue to mix on low/medium speed.
- When everything is mixed, remove the dough from the mixer and place it in a well floured surface. And knead the dough (I used 1 cup of flour to flour my surface and knead the dough) After you knead, flour your surface before cutting. Align them on a baking sheet and brush the egg wash on top.
- When ready bake your piggies for 10-12 minutes
Notes
- baking your marranitos for 10 minutes results in softer bread/cookies and 12 minutes results in crispier cookies
