Ingredients

  • Marranitos

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup softened butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cup molasses

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 5 cups flour

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 egg + 1 tsp milk for egg wash

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Beat sugar, butter, eggs for 3 minutes
  • Then add in molasses, eggs, milk, and vanilla, mix for another 3 minutes on medium speed.
  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl to ensure they are well distributed.
  • Add in dry ingredients slowly, 1 cup at a time, and continue to mix on low/medium speed.
  • When everything is mixed, remove the dough from the mixer and place it in a well floured surface. And knead the dough (I used 1 cup of flour to flour my surface and knead the dough) After you knead, flour your surface before cutting. Align them on a baking sheet and brush the egg wash on top.
  • When ready bake your piggies for 10-12 minutes

Notes

  • baking your marranitos for 10 minutes results in softer bread/cookies and 12 minutes results in crispier cookies
